"Manage Subscription" in i tunes useless- no phone help Sun

Got a mssg. that my subscription expired, logged into i tunes to renew, thought I did so for 1 yr, got message I bought the intro pack which expires 4/22 (12 days) Cant find out what I bought nor how to cancel in the app. Called NY Times, got a robo helper- couldnt find my account but theres no live help
on Sun so was advised to go online. FRUS- TRATING! What the hell, NYT. The app needs
a function to check & correct wrong subscriptions? Not acceptable NYT for $40 for access to your x-words!
