[UPDATE: Just want to say thanks for fixing the recent crashing issue ridiculously fast. Less than 24 hours and its been taken care of. I love how dependable the new regime is; even when there is a technical problem its dealt with swiftly. Sorry for the undeserved negative reviews by impatient people in the interim.] Worlds better than any other crossword-solving app that is or has ever existed. It is getting better still with every update. To those people complaining about the subscription cost: Although $40 is, in point of fact, a fair price for a years worth of high-quality crosswords, that is beside the point. The app designers have no control over what the Times decides to charge for subscriptions. Leaving a bad review for the app because of this is petty and thoughtless.
Great fix and write up. I use this app like a crack addict and was stoked to see an update available hours after I noticed the hard crash on opening.
After the 9/7 release crashed on open, the release on 9/8 totally works. There was great messaging in the app about the crash, reasons for it, and genuine honest apologies. Keep keeping it real, nerd friends
Everything seems to be working well now. I really appreciate how responsive their team is when theres an issue with the app. Not only are they prompt in issuing a new update, but they also respond helpfully to email providing alternate solutions.
It is simply outrageous that when you move to a new iPad (Ive gone through this twice) or the App updates like it just did it shows all your completed puzzles as not done, until you click on them and then theyre filled in. For those of us whove done many this is enormously annoying and seems simple to fix. Though it has survived for a long time and through "updates" (in fact updates are part of the problem). Fix it please.
(Note: huge kudos to the app team for the very speedy and classy way they dealt with the previous versions bugs!) Every morning I look forward to starting the day off with a new NYT crossword, and this app makes that super easy to do even without a subscription to the physical newspaper. Im a stats nut too, so I enjoy how it keeps track of my solving times and streaks.

Crashes on start up. First time Ive had issue like this in two years though, to be fair. Fixed quickly!
I love having access to the daily crossword puzzle and I find the subscription fee well worth it to have access to the full archives. The puzzles become available at 10 p.m. the night before which is a nice treat as well (6 p.m. on Sunday for the Monday puzzle). I wish the user interface for checking and revealing squares, words, and the puzzle was a little more fluid but that is my only complaint.

I had changed this to a 1-star rating due to the crash of 07 Sep 2016. Glad to see they responded promptly. Gotta have my NY Times crosswords.
App now works but one star for putting out an update that crashed on open for so many users. Test the update before releasing next time. Being able to continue solving on another device is not helpful if the app crashes upon opening.

Great app in the old version. Now, as of September 8th, the update has made it so that the app will not stay open. It is now useless. Bring back the old version!!

This app used to be great. The bug fix yesterday killed my ability to access it in my IPhone 6. The app continuously crashed on opening. I deleted the app and downloaded it again. Now, it will not allow me to log in...a paid subscriber!
