NYT Games: Word Games & Sudoku App Reviews

I love solving crosswords every now and then and this app does a lot of things right. It gives a daily free mini puzzle, has a timer and provides statistics (if youre a subscriber). However, with the latest update, I cant play music from another app anymore (though that was supposed to be a problem fixed - which I never had in the first place until now).

Since updating today the app shuts down whenever I try to go on it. It never gets any further than a white screen with the NYT logo. Ive paid for a subscription and now I cant play at all. Not happy at all

Since the latest update, cant open the app without it crashing immediately. I bought a yearly subscription; very annoyed.

Frustrated that even though I purchased the bundles I am still subject to long ads when playing them. Not what I paid for!!

Like most of the people making comments recently Im having no luck even getting into the app. Its almost been a week and no new version this is very disappointing. If this continues for much longer Ill be asking for a refund.

About half of their upgrades cause the app to stop working. They never refund any money for the time you cant use the app. Im losing my patience with these guys.

Since the last upgrade, I have not been able to open it up. When I try it just bounces me out. It was good when it worked. Now its useless. Another example of messing things up to serve you better. :-(

The latest update has the app constantly "Polishing up puzzle data." Paying for a subscription and not being able to use it is incredibly frustrating. Surprised this hasnt been fixed yet...

Thats right. Purchased puzzle packs and now I get to watch the same 30sec Ad each time I return to play? I dont think this is fair. To H@ll with the subscription. Ill go elsewhere.

Great app, thanks. Would appreciate a feature where I could clear all puzzles in a / as a pack once they are done rather than just one at a time Thanks

$17 a year was reasonable, but the sudden hike to $46 a year is absurd. Im out. Which is a shame, because the puzzles themselves are good.

I have a one year subscription. However, the app regularly blocks access, saying my free trial is over and that I must subscribe even though I have subscribed. A devious attempt to scoop more money? Bug in the software? Only the Shadow knows. Tech support slow.

I love this app. I access it on my iPad Air and except for an issue in an earlier version with some of the longer clues not displaying in full (which was fixed) I have had no problems. The annual subscription cost in Canadian money works out to about 12.5 cents a day (!) for two puzzles (regular and mini) and unlimited access to the puzzles on the website and the 20-year archive. I call that a phenomenal bargain. (But please dont raise the price.

My wife changed "afoot" to "aflot"... "Just in case". She gets one star.

Love this app. Not the cheapest but I feel it is worth it. Addictive though. I rarely miss a day!

Really liked this app on IPhone and IPad, until the IOS update prior to 9, now the app wont stay open for more than a second on either device??

Since update iPad Air with IOS 9, the NYT crossword app is not working. It freezes my screen often, forcing me to force restart my iPad. ie. Several times per session. Also, it takes over 30 seconds to close. AND, it appears to be seriously draining the battery. Please fix ASAP.

Since upgrade, when doing daily puzzle, it goes into a "downloading" cycle that never completes, and I cant continue. Have to reboot. Is this a common problem, or just on ipad?
