NYT Games: Word Games & Sudoku App Reviews

My complaint at this time is this: when I give up and decide to reveal a puzzle, it congratulates me for completing the puzzle. That is wrong - would prefer a better luck next time message or something similar.

I wish archived games showed a different icon for the puzzles you completed without clues and the ones you used hints/reveal.

Why does the screen that asks you if you want to pick up where you left off no longer tell you where you left off? This was very helpful. Please return this feature.

I was impressed with the amount of polish this app has, from the clue interface to the mini puzzles. Well done!

Overall the app is pretty good but it stops my music and I cant turn it back on while I play, real turn off for me

Very good app: nice features and mostly bug free. The different time averages by day of week is a great feature. The streak feature keeps you solving day after day.

Great content but mediocre interface. Even Googles one-day crossword on their landing page had better interface. Should be able to see the across and down clues simultaneously for a given square Update: latest version often wont open a puzzle from a pack. Displays clues, but no grid and time is placeholder h:mm:sec that never changes

dont say the app is free if you make people its not.

This is probably the first time Ive ever downloaded an update to an app that actually addressed every bug or shortcoming I encountered in the previous version. Both the improved updating process for the archive and concealing of the answers in the background are exactly what I wanted. Now if only I could figure out where to access the puzzle of the month...

Nothing but a bare bones interface, better features and interface in Across Lite. NYT will also keep charging you for subscription without notifying you. You get an email telling you NYT already took another $39.00 out of your PayPal account. Huh?

Refuses my login even though I use the App every day on my iPhone.

Have to rate this a one for lack of response to bug that no longer registers completion time for sunday puzzles. most apps have a contact email, guess they dont care enough at NYT.

This is a great app if youre looking for a crossword app and I have spent a lot of time with it and there are a few things that they could change that would make this review 5 stars. First, it doesnt recognize my subscription on my iPhone, I first got the app on the iPad and my subscription works fine there but it does not work on my iPhone. And second, add stat tracking for the mini crosswords, I know theyre not as important as the regular crossword puzzles but having stat tracking for the minis would be nice.

You have to sign up and pay to play....just charge up front rather than have people waste time downloading

Ive tried many crossword apps and this has been my favorite. Many different puzzles and difficulties to choose from.

Love the new interface and all the mini packs

Past few versions of this app have been hogging large amounts of battery power on my iPhone. Also, latest version has a bug with the Resume Puzzle feature. When you open the app and click to Resume a puzzle, the bottom of the puzzle above the keyboard will be cut off, because the puzzle opened under the notification bar at the top of the phone. Normally the puzzles open over the notification bar so that the elite grid is visible.

Have not been able to download puzzles for two days straight

One expects better from the New York Times. The puzzle kept jumping to other parts while in the middle of a word, and the settings menu kept opening. I doubt Ill use it again unless Im desperate.

I loved the stylus support on the Microsoft Surface line, I have recently sold my Surface and purchased an iPad Pro. I assumed the pencil functionality would be there but I was wrong! Please add the Apple pencil support to the app, it makes it that much better!
